Sterling silver powder bowl - Birmingham 1923/4
$129.00
Having just reached its centenary, this lovely antique silver lidded bowl would originally have been a powder bowl but today is a great size to hold a vast range of household or personal objects. It was assayed in Birmingham in 1923/4 but the maker's mark isn't particularly well struck so the maker can't be confidently identified. Externally the glass body is circular but internally it is gently octagonally lobed adding visual interest alongside the multi-rayed star design cut into the glass base. The sterling silver lid isn't monogrammed so can be engraved by the future owner if desired. It is in good condition but there are some minor knocks around the edge of the silver lid and a slight scraping around the middle of the glass bowl. There are no chips, cracks or significant damage. The sterling silver lid weighs 25 grams.
