Round sterling silver locket - Birmingham 1915/16
$115.00
This small round locket is perfect for everyday wear and holding a special memory close to your heart. The hallmarks are a bit worn on the back but there are also some internally in good condition that allow us to date this piece to 1915/16. It was assayed in Birmingham and the maker's mark appears to be SB, so possibly Stainton Brothers. It isn't monogrammed so there is the potential for its next owner to personalise it. It has had a few minor knocks but nothing significant and it opens and closes well.
There is something so poignant about these pieces intended for remembrance created during World War I. You can imagine a soldier presenting a picture and perhaps a lock of hair in this locket to his girlfriend, or maybe his mother, before heading away to war. Hopefully they were reunited at the end of the war.
The antique box and other antique pieces are not included, but I hope to make some of these items available in the future.
Our jewellery photographs are taken in extreme close-up to show you every tiny detail. Any blemishes are greatly magnified and typically they aren’t noticeable to the naked eye.
Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of the description and please get in touch if you have any questions.
