Edwardian sterling silver jewellery box - Birmingham 1908
Jones & Crompton
$545.00
This Edwardian sterling silver jewellery box contrasts a plain lid (which could be personalised with a monogram) with a highly decorative body featuring laurel wreaths and swags on scrolling paw-like feet. The interior is in lovely condition with the original gilding and silk and velvet lined interior in very good condition. It is so nice (and very rare) to open something this age and find the interior so well preserved.
Made by highly regarded silversmiths Jones & Crompton, this stunning sterling silver jewellery boxwas assayed in Birmingham in 1908. There are a couple of very minor knocks to the lid shown with magnification in the photographs and internally on the gilded lid there is a small letter s, presumably scratched into the surface by a previous owner. Please look closely at the photographs and get in touch if you have any questions.
