Eight-lobed Japanese Cloisonné Vase - Kyoto-jippo style, Meiji era c. 1890

$159.00

This stunning little eight-lobed cloisonné vase was made in the Kyoto-jippo style during the Meiji era - in about the last fifteen years of the nineteenth century. I was immediately drawn to the range of colours and different decorative motifs including tight scrolls, flowers, stylised mon (family crests) and roundels.

It is unsigned like the majority of export cloisonné in Japan in the period. It is a truly lovely piece. There is a little damage to the cloisonné but it blends in well with the design so is only obvious if you are looking for it. The photographs show the damage using magnification.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of the description. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch.
