The Crown Devon demitasse duo is perfect for your morning coffee with its geometric art deco style. The lovely fresh green of the banding in this duo feels like spring to me and it is the perfect pair for your morning espresso. The original firm out of which Crown Devon emerged was S. Fielding & Co. Ltd. It was established in around 1870 and produced an enormous quantity and range of domestic and ornamental earthenware over the life of the business.  The Crown Devon name came into general use in the early 1900s although first use of the name may date from the 1880s. The designer Enoch Bolton joined the pottery in 1929 and Boulton was responsible for the enormous output of striking Art Deco style wares from the Devon Pottery in the 1930s. The best of Boulton’s Art Deco and modernist designs rival and often exceed in impact those of Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper.

There is some crazing, which is very common with these earthenware pieces and some minor paint loss consistent with age and use but no chips, cracks or repairs.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form an important part of the description. If you have any questions please get in touch (contact@eldercroftandsons.co.nz).
