T. C. Brown-Westhead Moore and Co later known as Cauldon were very highly regarded producers of high quality china that was represented at numerous 19th century international exhibitions. They traded as T. C. Brown Westhead Moore and Co from 1862 - 1904 but I'm fairly sure this piece was made in the 1870s or 1880s as it was sold in France and the company was prominent there after attending two exhibitions in 1878 and 1889. At the Grand Prix, Paris, in 1889 they secured the Grand Prix and two medals.

This piece is interesting in so many ways. The decoration is outstanding - fabulous colours and stunning pattern. The handle is unique and so beautifully made. Strangely, there is a typo in the mark with Moore being misspelt as More. There is some minor wear to the colour particularly on the edge of the saucer and rim fo the cup but no crazing, crack, chips or repairs and it is in fantastic condition for its age.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form an important part of the description. If you have any questions please get in touch (contact@eldercroftandsons.co.nz).
