Royal Doulton Cobalt Blue and Gold Iris and Butterfly Jug

I love the rich cobalt blue and gold pairing in this antique Royal Doulton jug. A different flower is highlighted on each side of the jug and there is also a beautiful butterfly. I really like the contrast between the painterly treatment of the flowers and the tighter more formal design around the rim. While variations of this design were popular from the late 1800s, the markings indicate this jug dates from the 1930s. There are some minor surface imperfections internally that date to manufacture. It is in very good condition other than a minor chip to the base rim and some minor crazing.
