Beautiful Campbell Hegan Plate

I’m a devoted fan of New Zealand art in all its forms. Finding this beautiful plate by Campbell Hegan was a real thrill. He has been working with the medium since at least the late 1970s and I especially like this recent work with its painterly qualities. You can certainly see the influence of abstract expressionism. It also reminds me of the slightly earlier work of Joan Miró and Alexander Calder. It is signed on the back. There are no cracks, chips or repairs but there is some surface crazing, which is to be expected. It would be a lovely addition to a ceramics collection, for display or for use.
