Large French hand-painted black satin fan c.1880s

The box is past its best but it has been protecting this gorgeous French hand-painted fan since the 1880s. The fashion of the day was for large fans and this black satin one is a fabulous example. The floral design is beautifully executed. It is in very good condition overall - one of the sticks is broken but it would be a straightforward repair and doesn’t detract on display. While it could certainly be used (with care), these look fantastic framed in a shadow box. There is a video of it on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
