Fabulous cased fish set with sterling silver collars and ivorine handles

This fabulous cased fish set for six is in excellent condition. While originally intended for fish, they could, of course, be used for other things. The sterling silver ferrules or collars between the electroplated blades/tines and ivorine handles are a sign of quality and they also allow us to date the set. The sterling silver ferrules (or collars) were made by Yates Brothers and were assayed in Sheffield in 1920. The EPNS blades and tines were made by respected manufacturer Thomas Turner & Co Ltd of Sheffield. The use of ivorine - an artificial substitute for ivory - was common in the Edwardian and Art Deco eras. The case is in great condition inside and out.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of the description. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch directly (contact@eldercroftandsons.co.nz).
