Keeping books intact is something I take very seriously but sadly it was not possible with the copy of 'A Dream of Fair Women' illustrated by Harrison Fisher I acquired. It was already missing a number of illustrations and those that remained were already detached. The book was published by Bobbs-Merrill Company Indianapolis in October 1907. The nine illustrations that are available would be fantastic framed, singularly or in a group.

Harrison Fisher (1875/1877–1934) was a leading American illustrator of the early twentieth century, renowned for his refined and elegant portrayals of contemporary femininity. Born in Brooklyn, New York, into a family of artists, he studied at the San Francisco Art Association before building a successful career as a magazine and book illustrator in both San Francisco and New York.

By 1907, Fisher had reached the height of his popularity, contributing regularly to prominent publications such as Cosmopolitan. He became especially well known for his idealized images of fashionable young women—often called the “Fisher Girl”—which served as a counterpart to the equally celebrated “Gibson Girl.”

His illustrations for A Dream of Fair Women (1907) exemplify his signature style, combining graceful figures, delicate coloring, and an emphasis on beauty, poise, and modern sophistication. Works from this series remain highly collectible today, representing a defining moment in the golden age of American illustration.

These are for sale separately. When selecting the image number you would like, please note they are shown in order in the first three images from left to right. So the first image on the left is number one, centre is two, right is three and so on. I will confirm your selection with you directly prior to shipping. There is only one of each available.

Please look closely at the photographs as they form an important part of the description. Some of the illustrations have some damage to the edges, but once matted and framed that will not be noticeable. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch (contact@eldercroftandsons.co.nz). Delivery is always available in Wellington. It is free in the central, southern and eastern suburbs and $5 in the northern and western suburbs.
