This stunning first edition copy of The Wind in the Wood a collection of beautifully illustrated children’s stories dates from 1952. It was written and illustrated by Denys James Watkins-Pitchford, who wrote under the pseudonym BB. He was a British naturalist, illustrator, art teacher and children’s author. By the time this book was published he had already won the Carnegie Medal for The Little Grey Men in 1942. The Wind in the Wood was published in London, by Hollis & Carter. The dust jacket is worn and there is a little fading where the spine has been exposed. There is also some discolouration to the endpapers but the interior of the book and the fabulous illustrations are in excellent condition in this beautiful and highly desirable book. It features 143 pages and 12 colour plates (including frontispiece). The page dimensions are 248 x 186mm.
