Founded in 1815 by John Doulton in Lambeth, London, Royal Doulton evolved from a utilitarian stoneware manufacturer (pipes, jars) into a renowned producer of fine china, porcelain, and collectible figurines. The firm gained royal recognition in 1901 from King Edward VII after expanding into artistic ceramics and, later, high-end tableware.

The fabulous blackberry design on this plate features a transfer base, which has then been painted by hand to highlight the large leaves and flowers. I have seen a number of these and rarely is the colour this good. The plate has a green rim and is in excellent condition, though there is crazing which is very common on these pieces. It would be lovely on display or in use. Made in 1937, this stunning vintage piece would be a lovely addition to a collection or would be a lovely focal point on a plate wall.
