Small hammered brass tray with handles and copper rivets c.1930s

I usually avoid polishing old brass and copper as I love the patina they develop over time but this lovely small tray had very uneven patina as a result of past use, so I decided to return some of its original shine. The upside of this is the revelation of the bright copper rivets securing the handles that were previously much less noticeable. Like a lot of brass from the period, it isn't marked other than numbers on the back of the handles but it dates from around the 1930s. It was previously used to hold candles (as evidenced by the wax that needed to be removed) so I have shown it with a modernist wooden pair as wood and brass look good together and it is a practical way to keep wax from precious surfaces. It would also be fantastic on a desk or as a small bar tray. The candlesticks and crystal glasses are for display purposes only.
