Vintage Empoli Glass Apothecary Jar Bonbon Jar - c. 1960s/70s

This fabulous vintage Empoli glass apothecary jar is in a lovely deep emerald green complemented with clear glass foot and finial. Empoli glass comes from Empoli, a town in Tuscany, Italy. Glassmaking there dates back to the 14th century and began with simple function wares. In the mid-twentieth century factories shifted from simple utility items to bright art glass and export items. and this piece dates from that period c.1960s - 1970s. It is unmarked as most items only had simple "Made in Italy" paper stickers instead of maker marks but pieces like this in vibrant colours are now prized by mid-century modern collectors. While often described as apothecary jars rather than being used for medicine, these gorgeous glass jars were designed for home decor, holding candy, or sitting proudly on a shelf as statement pieces. Perfect for any room in the house and a great size if you want to use it to store things. It is in excellent condition with no flaws to note.
