Large Royal Crown Derby Imari Fern Plate - 1896

This fabulous large Royal Crown Derby plate dates from 1896. This pattern number 2712 is known as Imari Fern. I think the inclusion of the internal fern pattern gives it quite a modern feel. I spent a few years in Japan and became fascinated by Japanese culture so I can relate to the Victorian and Edwardian love of these Japanese-inspired Imari patterns with their combination of rust red, cobalt blue and rich 22ct gold gilding to the edges. It is 330mm long and 230mm wide and is in wonderful antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and only minor wear to the gilding.
