The Children's Treasure Book, The Children's Press, Glasgow and London, 1940s

This rare vintage children's book has a lovely bright cover. It is showing wear consistent with age and use. It is not dated, which is common with this type of books in the mid-twentieth century. The nice birthday inscription indicates it is 1946 or earlier. The relatively low grade of paper used is consistent with production during or immediately after World War II. I particularly like the black and red illustrations interspersed within the text - the cat is especially charming. A previous owner has added a coloured pencil embellishment to the contents page and there is some damage to the bottom of a few pages (shown in the photographs) but it is overwise in good used condition.
