Rare 1925 Art Deco Shelley "Bubbles" Cup & Saucer Duo – Pattern 11188 (Monochrome Mauve)
Shelley
$189.00
An exceptional, highly collectible find: an authentic, early Art Deco fine bone china teacup and saucer duo in Shelley’s iconic "Bubbles" pattern. While most Bubbles patterns feature multicolored geometric combinations, this scarce variant is executed entirely in a striking, solid pinky-purple/mauve monochrome colorway. The geometric bubble print wraps beautifully around Shelley’s classic, smooth-bodied Bute shape, showcasing the best of 1920s British avant-garde ceramic design.
Both pieces are fully authenticated on the base with the classic Shelley China England shield backstamp (printed in its era-correct deep dark grey/green ink), the design registration number Rd 681788 (initially registered in 1921), and the specific factory mauve palette pattern numbers (11188 on the cup and the matching decorator mark on the saucer).
It is in good vintage condition. A beautiful structural piece with absolutely no chips, cracks, crazing, or restoration. The monochrome mauve enamel print remains crisp and vibrant. The clear surface glaze shows a few honest scratches on both the cup and saucer consistent with its 100-year history as a loved cabinet piece.
